ICI is an ISO 9000 certified quality organization. ICI was first certified in 2011, and was re-certified in February 2014. ICI has a quality manager, a quality management team, and an entire organization that understands quality is not something we layer on or add to our products and services, but it is intrinsic to who we are and everything we do.
ICI blends various aspects of Lean Manufacturing with other aspects of our Quality Plan, including among other things 5S and the Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) method of learning and applying what we learn, from our successes and failures. Yes, we do fail on occasion, but we strive to learn all we can from every failure. When asked how many times he had failed at inventing the light bulb, Thomas Edison observed that, "I haven't failed -- I've found 10,000 ways that don't work."
In addition to our regular quality management team meetings, a cross-functional team meets weekly to discuss every new part we are about to produce, to perform PFMEA's (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and to discuss opportunities for improvement.
